Security guard accidentally shoots robbery victim in attempt to stop armed suspects in north Houston nightclub, police say!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Police say a security guard accidentally shot a man who had been robbed in an attempt to stop an armed suspect in North Houston.

Houston Police Department officers responded to a shooting at a nightclub on the 9900 block of North Highway at approximately 3:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers said they found a man with gunshot wounds to the back and he was taken to hospital in a stable condition. Police said he was expected to survive.

Investigators said two masked men got off a gray charger and attempted to rob the victim and his brother at gunpoint.

Police said a security guard working at the nightclub noticed what was happening and immediately took action.

According to investigators, a robbery suspect grabbed the victim when the security guard opened fire twice.

“Unfortunately, when he fired his weapon, he hit (the victim) in the back,” Lieutenant Ignacio Izaguirre said.

The suspect escaped, but a security guard chased after him and was able to hold him until the arrival of Houston police, according to Izagiri.

The other suspect reportedly fled the scene in the gray charger.
